Default What tools needed?

I bought a new Street Bob, it will be delivered soon.
As we are metric here in Europe I think I can not use my metric tools on the Harley.
Can anyone advise me what minimum tools I need to be able to do some basic maintainance.
I mean what sizes of wrenches, imbus keys etcetera.

Thank you!

Corl, some metric wrenches are similar in size like the metrics. Such as 7/16 is close to 11mm, 5/16 is close to 8mm, and so on. If you can get a set of American allan wreches and a set of torx wrenches ( some people call them star wrenches) you are covering a major amount of wrenches needed. Other wrenches that are needed are 1/2, 9/16, and 5/8. The 5/8 wrench is close to 16 or 17 mm. If you can find a convertion chart from mm to .000's of an inch and inches to .000's of an inch, you have what you need. If I had a scanner I could scan it for you and seen it but I don't. Sorry.

If you are buying from a dealer over, there they probably have some pre-packaged tool sets for sale.

Congratulations on your new bike.

Some of the tool sets HD sell are from Snap-On,very pricey.I think he would be better off to try to get something from Sears(Craftsman)IMO.

Thank y'all for your advise!

Especially KBFXDLI and Superdog48 for their elaborate answers.

I'll get me a toolkit.

BTW I found out that what we call an inbus key is called an Allen wrench in English

Still four weeks to go....
