Attitudes against Harleys... Ain't we past this yet?
So I go to the MD Bike Show in Baltimore, the MSF folks have a booth and I introduce myself to the guy and ask for info on becoming an instructor.
First question he asks me is how long I've been riding. I tell him 18 years or so. Next question is, "What do you ride?"
I'm thinking to myself, "what the hell does that matter?" but I know that folks have a need to know, hell sometimes I even care what other people ride...
But I tell him, "A 2006 Harley-Davidson Superglide."
He says, "Well, first you need a new bike, a real motorcycle."
I mean, really? Folks, can we just get past all the idiot notions about "my bike is cooler than your bike? I'm a Real Rider and you're just a poser on a Harley/Yamaha/Honda...?
Look, once you go over the high side and you're lying on the ground bleeding, it hardly matter what bike some cager knocked you off of, does it? I bleed red just like you, right?
One of the coolest bikes I've ever ridden was my 1978/'79 Honda CB 750Supersport/K Frankenstein Bike... And ranking right up there with it is my beloved Superglide!
I don't need a new bike. What I need is for everyone to stop the asinine, elemntary school level bullshite thinking that starts and condones idiot arguments about rice burners vs HD.
This is a call for Unity, friends. It's perfectly ok to love your Harley and to be cool with guys who love their GSX-R's and BMW 1200Rs'.
Man, I'm tired of this stuff.
so, that's my Sunday Morning Preachin' done. I guess that's why they call me The Reverend.
I love you, and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it.
Good for you for wanting to help out and do some good. But "Some men, you just cant reach" The guy is an idiot. Let it pass, and find another place to teach. Simple as that.

I'm not questioning the veracity of your statement, but, in all the years I've been around motorcycling no one has ever said something like that unless it was in fun, Especially in the presence of a MSF booth. I've found, you reap what you sow, if you show respect for others, you get respect back. Another thing..Harley riders are just as prone to badmouthing as metric or any other type rider, maybe even more. jmo

Thanks for your replies. I refuse to give up on this subject... Guys like this CAN be educated, even Harley riders, ha ha.
My response when he said this was pretty much,
"Oh, you think my bike isn't quality? Well, let me run out and buy a new one because YOU think I should! Now I know why I've been losing sleep, because YOU disapprove of my bike..."
He got real sheepish after that and hemmed and hawed around the subject, so I let him off. But it did **** me off, and me a Minister and whatnot.
I should be ashamed of myself.
If you notice half the bs here is whos a real biker? LOL which kills me
I would of been really curious of what he owns.
