Default It finally happened

After 45 years of hard riding my wifey and I had our first accident on labor day, went to down town Sandy Eggo to get ice cream, warm early evening, on our way home 3 blocks from the house putting along a residential street, the car in front of us pulled to the right and slowed down, as we were passing it still in the same lane, they pulled in front of us, to make a left turn into a driveway no signal nada, I nailed the brakes, but still hit at an angle on the left rear as they turned.
So down we go on the right side of our wide glide, the wifey was smart and landed on top of me, I hit my head (helmet) my right fist punched the deck as did my elbow, and ribs and chest took a blow when the wife landed on my back. The car pulled into their drive and they all stood in front of their watching us as we were pinned under the bike, heard the wife screaming "oh God", have no idea what the hell I was screaming at the time? Some guy's stopped and pulled the scoot of of us and stayed with us until the cops and everybody else showed up, to make this shorter, cop chick said because I rear ended her it was probably going to be my fault, had the bike towed home, jumped in the jeep went to the VA hosp. had 26 x-rays done just soft tissue damage, wife has a bad knee and ankle, but we'll heal (thank you Lord) bike is in the shop $2300.00 in damage to the front and right side, my helmet and boots are toast(dressed for a crash) but we are very lucky, AAA hasn't given me any crap, Harley shop has been super, Can't wait to get back on the horse, wifey feels the same way, she's one to ride the river with, anyway you all be careful out there, THEY ARE TRYING TO KILL US

Glad you are relatively OK. Hopefully, you'll be able to get them on the failure to signal at the minimum if your lucky maybe the failure to yield right of way.

Sorry to hear about the accident but very happy to hear both of you weren't seriously injured.

Got a kick out of your last line "THEY ARE TRYING TO KILL US" though...one of the first lessons I learned was to never pass any slowing vehicle on the right or left, despite which blinker is flashing. Now if it was a 2 lane street, you might have an argument but...Whether in a car or on your bike, it is your error.
He must of thought you were trying to kill him.

Wow glad you're OK and will be back on the road soon. Going 45 yrs before your first crash is admirable so congrats on that. These things happen out of the blue and happen in an instant so dress for the crash out of habit is the best policy.

I hate SOBs that don't give signals.

Heal quickly and "Live to Ride and Ride to Live".

45 years and only one crash with no serious injuries... I'd say you're doing good. Glad to hear you and the wife are OK... good luck getting back in the saddle soon.
