I was a professional driver for 13 years. I'm not saying that there arent still pro's out there, but, with companies looking to make as much $$$ as possible, they are willing to hire just about whom ever and deal with the consiquences when they arise. I took pride when I drove, and now do the same when I ride. I see plenty of people out there who drive as though they are the only one on the road. Cars, Trucks, Buses and even Bikes...

Like any group, there are some morons, some really good ones, and most fall in the middle somewhere. I haven't had any issue with truckers. I treat them with respect - back off and let them in when the cager in front of me ignores their turn signal and zooms up beside them... Most of them seem to know I want to haul ***, so they get out of the way as soon as they're done & acknowledge me with a flash of the lights or a wave.

They live on the road, so, they deal with morons in cages, bikes and other trucks, endangering them or themselves by doing stupid things. Even a decent guy is bound to have a bad day where he's fed up with so many morons trying to kill themselves...

One thing I've noticed on this board is that the "biker" is rarely in the wrong, if you get my drift.

Every thread I see that looks like a novel about a car cutting them off, or a near miss I wonder about the real details.

I mean look here;

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...oad-today.html

Never said what part of the lane he was in. Could He see the truck driver?

You guys are the only ones that know now so hush up. Down here in San Diego truck drivers are the worst. Most come from over the border that are real bad. But there are some that just can't drive. Truck drivers used to be held up on a pedestal for being courteous drivers. Now days it's all .ucked up.
Been there and done that!!! It gets irritating after you watch some of these guys waste an hour trying to blindside in when it should only take a few minutes. I haven't gotten angry at them, but I have conducted "lessons".

I am sure there are some riders who cause their own grief... been there done that but i sure do see a lot of cagers out there causing the problems. The distractions are many and they certainly aren't looking for us.... well some of them look right at you and pull out anyway!

My first read of this made me think you are some kind of a$$hole, but upon further reflection, I have to agree. It is not only the truckers that have gotten rude on the roads tha past few years. Nobody will adjust their speed any more to allow you to safely merge onto an expressway. When you are coming down the ramp, you can see the idiots in cars and trucks speeding up to close the gap that you were intending to merge into smoothly. WTF do these idiots want you to do? You have to get on the freeway, and they are playing some kind of stupid game trying to make you either hit them or slam on the brakes. When I see a truck coming down a ramp, I move over if possible. If moving over is not possible, I slow a little and flash the brights to signal them that I will let them in. When I am being tailgated by a semi (in my car), I slow way down and flip them off. On the bikes, I just try to get out of their way. If they have an 800# posted on the pack of the truck, I call it and report rude and dangerous driving!

It's hard to believe how far the quality of all drivers has declined in the past 10 years. People now think their cars/trucks come with magic blinkers. All they have to
do is put their magic blinker on and they can pull in front of another car at 70 mph with a 1/2 car length between the car they cut off and the one in front of them.

And remember the day(not long ago) if someone cut you off and you blew the horn they'd go back into their lane? Not anymore. Now they just keep coming and don't give a chit if they hit you or not.

Encroachment has become a necessary driving tactic because it seems nearly ALL drivers have come to believe allowing any other vehicle in front of them will cause them to never arrive at their destination - which is always somewhere extremely important, and they have to get there RIGHT NOW!
