Yes, it's a step in the right direction. Unfortunately, an indictment doesn't mean squat. There are likely to be people on her jury who feel that she performed a public service.
That's why some people take matters into their own hands.
The DA used common sense and realized that this woman had total disregard for the safety of other people on the road. Now it is in the hands of the courts to decide the punishment, but at least it wasn't just deemed an accident and dropped!
York Pa one year ago, lady driving, texting and putting on make up ran over a police officer who was investigating a fatal crash from the day before. The officer had safety cones out and was wearing his reflective vest.
Investigation showed she had been texting and the day after she tried to have it deleted. Also they found a make up compact thing open in her car with the make up powder on the driver's side seat, which puts it in her reach at the time of the murder.
She's been charged with the officer's death and tampering with evidence. She also had a couple of serious traffic convinctions from the past but I can't remember what they were.
The officer had a wife and kid.
I hope they throw it to her!
It's good to hear that she was indicted, now it's up to the courts to find her guilty of the charges. I was really pissed off that they had initially dropped the charges, but glad to hear there was a good reason behind it.
Its funny how people judge bikers. I got a call from a fellow LEO awhile back, who informed me of a women who was pulled over for cutting off a biker. Her response was, "it was only a motorcycle".
I'm glad this one was not dropped. Now let see if the SA has enough ***** to take it to court or will they plea it out like they do here.
well it's a tragedy that happened. They needed to file charges.. Problem is . now her stupidity ruined quite a few lives.. The motorcycle rider, and family, Plus hers and her families. Just because she was being stupid with her driving habits.
I see it everyday out here on the roads. Not just civilians either. Couple of days ago I saw a police officer run a stop sign.. I couldn't tell what he was doing but he wasn't looking at the road . He was messing with something in the seat or middle of the seat. I was on my bike and luckily was behind the officer, and not coming into the intersection from the other directions or I would have been hit.
Everyone needs to become more alert and aware of their driving habits and skills. We have more vehicles on the roads now then ever before . Lots of the people driving are not very skilled drivers. You add in a distraction or two and this is what happens. People get killed. If they use her as an example and make the punishment harsh. I hope others learn from it .
THis is great news to hear. I mean nothing good comes from this story, and nobody really wins. But it's about taking responsibility for your actions when behind the wheel. Painting your nails while driving, she may as well have drove with a blind fold on. She deserves jail time to the max for being careless and reckless around other people.
Tired hearing about all these douche bags doing everything else but driving, hair, nails, phone, texting. They need to enforce some strict distracted driving laws.
