I had one, took it back. False readings, error codes and my biggest complaint of all, I had to push a button (which I couldn't feel with winter gloves on) to get a reading.
I now use the analog gauge dip stick, very accurate and a glance tells me what range my oil is.

Rain shouldn't hurt it. But a good blast from a water hose will over time. Covering it will make it last a little longer.

Mine was a piece of junk. Tried another, didn't care for it either. Sold them both off long time ago.

From some past posts, think the best thing for you to do is pull out dipstick, pull your arm way, way back and whip thing a good one. Back to stock and forget about that toy.
