Default Anniversary Editions

My dealer just two Anniversary Edition bikes in on trade. A 1200 Sporty and a Low Rider. Really, really sharp looking bikes. The Low Rider only has 2200 miles on her and still has 2 years left on the extended warranty.
My questions (being new to Harley's) are:
1. Are there differences that are more than cosmetic between the Ann. Ed.'s and the regular models??? i.e., engnes, exhaust, suspension, whatever???
2. What did they sell for originally? Approx. how much more than the regular editions did they list for?
TIA for any info. Art

As far as I know 2003 were all aniversary editions, there were color variations, gold key packages, but being harleys 100 year aniversary I think they are all concidered aniversary models. I think the price was pretty much the same as previous years.

There is nothing special about the anniversary model. They were priced a MSRP for the most part, and HD extended the production year so there was a mess of them. Cosmetics was the only difference between them and any other.

Regards,

Bill

Thanks for the info. Were there still waiting lists and bikes being sold for over MSRP in '03? If so, anybody remember how much over MSRP was average?
Thanks again, Art

Hey Art - I almost bought a spiffied up anniversary edition of a Sporty 1200C - she sure was pretty, but, no rubber mounts - I guess Im too old and I just didn't enjoy that ride!

You could do a quick estimate on how much the bikes should sell over MSRP by looking at all the add on's for each bike. Then look at what those bikes are selling for versus getting a new one and adding on what you want.

I agree with Annie, if it were me, I would get the Low Rider. The rigid mount of the Sportster will vibrate old bones on long rides. Which means the prior to 2004 Sportys will not hold their value as more 2004 and later bikes come on the market.

If you are looking to buy one of these, go by NADA book. That is what the dealers use when they give you the trade-in price. I also agree with oldgeezer, get the Lowrider.

Bill

Thanks again, gang. I am not looking to buy. I'm still very happy with my '05 Super Glide. I did think these bikes were pretty, though and noticed that they had different, better and looked like leather seats. I was questioning because except for saddlebag grackets (no saddlebags), I couldn't find any extras on the Low Rider and even though it only has 2300 miles and the extended warranty through 2007, they are asking $15,599 or $15,999 either of which, I think, is at or above MSRP for a 2005 Low Rider. Just had me curious. Art
