What kind of fuel mileage are y'all getting on the Big Twins?
I know it will vary with the way you ride the bike but just wanted to know - will they get the 30 something city & 50 something hwy that Harley says???
I keep track of all my expense on my bike. I have a 2008 Electra Glide Classic. I do a lot of city riding. I have also done a lot of trips. In 12 months (June 16, 2008 to June 16 2009) and 15,000 miles, I came up with the following statistics: Average 35 mile per gallon, cost of gas was $3.33/gallon. Average cost per mile for gas was $.09. All my maintenance was done by the dealer. The average cost for maintenance was $.08 per mile. This included all Harley recommended service and 1 tire on the rear. This does not include chrome or extras I put on at my discretion. One reason the MPG was low was I rode in some cooler weather. At that point I was only getting 30 mpg. The highest MPG I have gotten was 48 MPG. I was loaded on a trip and riding double. I hope this answers the question. Yes I am an engineer. Thanks for asking.
