I hear ya, and I feel your pain. I can't tell you how many bikes I've had painted, and I don't think there's a painter on planet earth that will actually deliver when they say they will. I've learned to just suck it up, and plan on the delays. Shouldn't be that way, but it is what it is.....
Whether you believe in drop shipping or not, alot of business on the internet is just that. As for back orders, when an item is placed for sale they often have no idea it is on back order, or if they do they know that it could be shipped at any time so to not advertise an item just because it's on back order doesn't make good sense. The thing that sucks is having to pay before hand using pay pal or some other method of the same sort. Yes, I know we are insured to some degree, but so are our credit card purchases. Major companies usually don't charge until the item is shipped except for the ebay/paypal type outfits. What about buying from people on this forum even? They won't ship until they get the funds. You are at thier mercy and you are trusting that they won't abscond with your cash. Not to overlook that the more popular an item is the more likely they are apt to run out of stock before your item gets it's turn. Like everything else, it's how you look at things...
And we are all guilty of the same behavior to one degree or another depending on which role we play at the time, buyer or seller.
You are right and my judgment is harsh but at the same time I don't make promises that I can't keep and if something unexpected should come up then I prioritize, delegate, or ask for help. I don't break promises at work. I don't break promises at home. I learned that as a child. At the same time I have been reminded at work that work can interfere with home so all promises come with the qualifier that in an emergency I am expected to go to work. If you can't keep your promises than you are unreliable and disrespectful. It is a point of honor.

I have to respect your ethic, I also think a man is as good as his word. But I have also learned when your word is dependent on someone else s reliability and they fall through on their part, The wrong person catches the blame. There are times when everything isn't in black and white Life has a lot of gray areas.
You know I get so sick of hearing these bull crap excuses from people that you do business with.. Example ONE!!!
