I have a 2007 Road Glide and have been lucky enough to put 50,000 miles on her. My local dealer suggested replacing the lifters over the winter. I don't have any lifter noise and the bike runs strong.
Is there an there a usual mileage that this maintenance is preformed or wait until I start hearing signs of wear?
i wouldn't. roller lifters last a long time and even if you begin to hear a little noise, roller lifters are inherently a bit noisy. a close inspection is a better plan.
my 00 had 100K when i traded it for the 07 and it had stock lifters still in it. The 07 has 53K and I see no reason to change them, unless you feel the need or start having problems.
When I done the cams this spring at 16k my dealer recomemded putting in new lifters. Since then I've talked to a wrench who does my sons work at another dealership and he said that didn't hurt but I wouldn't have had to. Normally he changes them only after 20k and over, he said the stockers should go 100k with good maintenance which almost all of us do..
If U do deciede to do them, I would think seriously about some bolt in cams if U haven't already done them. The cams will make a really good improvement to the motor in power and helps cool her down. Plus my mileage went up a couple mpg's.
U should be able to get the winter special price anyway and save several Hundred $$. Sounds like they are trying to drum up some winter business..
