It would be helpful if you posted what model bike you have.

For what it's worth, on my ironhead sportster, intake seals are tricky. To check to see if they are installed correctly, after the bike is put back together and is idling, you can either run a water hose over the intake or a propane torch. The bike will die from the water or speed up from the intake, your choice. Either way, if it reacts funny, the intake seals are not installed properly and will have to be reinstalled. It is trial and error. There are other things to check as well, but without knowing what bike you have, it's not worth trying to explain.

We use WD40 instead of water. You can located the right spot of leak. And sometimes the WD40 will help slid the rubber gasket over into the leak.

found the problem,,turns out it wasnt an intake leak,,,the fuel pressure regulator had come apart,it was low fuel pressure,if your fuel pump is making an odd sound when you hit the run switch,,that is what is....

I have a few ?'s regaurding your fuel pressure regulator. Did it make the noise all the time or was it hit or miss with it? Did your bike miss at a contant throatle and and at an idle and shut off from time to time? I'm going through the same thing with my bike, its an 05 fxstdi. I have replaced the intake seals 4 times, just took it to the dealer they told me it was the intake seals, i told them about the fuel pump noise, they didnt hear it. I went there today, rode the bike brought it bake and finaly it made the noise where the service manager could hear it.
