Been having some issues with my bike. While trying to trouble shoot the problems, I found that my intake seals are leaking slightly. I've already put 2 new sets of intake seals on it, and can't get the damn leaks to stop. The leaks are only noticable if you spray carb cleaner or something similar around the flanges. What the hell is the secret to getting them not to leak? Never had this issue before, and I'm about ready to put some silicone or something similar on them.....
Take the intake flanges and on the side where there is a raised lip, sand the lip down flush with the rest of the flange. This allows a bit more travel when tightening and will most likely seal up any smal leak you may have.
Are you certain you have a leak? Is it possible that the carb cleaner you are spraying is getting into the intake thru the back side of the AC and not thru the intake seals? Just food for thought.
Thanks Dalton, I am having the exact same issue and was wondering what the solution was. I posted this in the softail section and knew I shoulda looked here first, lol
Can someone show a picture of this intake flange, and the point to sand. Or at least provide a more detailed description so we can figure this point out. Thanks

Are you saying sand down the lip where the bolts go thru the flange to the head until its smooth with the rest of the flange?
