SERT Hack
ORIGINAL: Whiffleboy
Being a computer guy, I was just curious if anyone has attempted to crack the SERT so that it won't marry itself to the VIN. I don't have one and, if I did, I would never share the software, but, I figured somebody out there has given this a shot.

Two hacks:
File 13: Throw that piece of crap in the trash where it belongs. Majority of stealership's can't play with it. Independents would rather PC III, just pull the pin on it. Had one for a year, got nothing but 74 hp, a rig that ran like cheap mascara (basically anywhere you did not want it to). Now I have a 600 dollar necklace that my gf won't wear.
Thundermax: Pop it in, forget about it. Does what a fuel management system is supposed to do... monitors via 02 sensors. Don't know the numbers, and don't care. Bike does not sputter, cut out, miss, buck, backfire, or any of that crap that it did with the SERT.
The EEPROM stuff is interesting in that there are some who think that dear ole HD has them coded to NOT throw a code when they are broken. They DEFINITELY are not configured to correctly sense and or measure issues with coil energy. The Dealer that I took the bike to would not entertain the fact that the coil could be the culprit, because it is a warrantable part... Took it to an independent, he replaced the coil, which I had to pay for, and viola, the bike runs right... Thanks Corporate HD. Either the ECM is underengineered, and just does not work, or it is overengineered to save the suits money on warranty work... hmmmm.. wonder which? Both options suck. Stock ECM makes a great paperweight now. Maybe I will make a mobile out of all of it. Nickname is Willie G's $2000 folly, and hang it in my goorage. Don't waste your time hacking it, lets start a collection of them and string up someone at Corporate HD.... Just my .02 and YES I am bitter. But since the Tmax? Happy man, with much less bike drama.

Cardboard, I noticed in your sig that you are now using TMax. If this is the case, and you do not plan on going back to stock, you can sell your stock ECM with the SERT and it can be used. I believe the SERT reads the VIN from the stock ECM.
