I just put a chrome rear brake reservoir cover on my bike because my stock black one was flaking the paint and guess what...the box said MADE IN THE USA!
Right, The BOX was made in the USA, not the part..
If clothing and such things are made in China I don't give a ****. But! I just bought a new OEM front rubber motor mount for my Glide and even that one is labeled "Made in China".
Shoulda got a velva ride. it lasts longer and is made in the USA
This has been going on awhile guys...bought my 2nd new bike in 1984..FXWG...had trouble with speedo...removed it..and on the back was stamped..yup..made in china...banged out a letter to moco..answer was that harley's were 80% american made...15% european...5% far east...but they were 100% assembled in the U.S.A.
harley put a large assembly plant in brazil early last year. so if you have a 08-2010 there is a good chance your american made bike was made in brazil. most of the baggers and softail for sure.
this argument has come up a lot in my group of frinds. who will only buy american made. i asked them what bike is the most american made. kawasaki has a plant in maryvill mo. those bikes are assembled there so they are american made. yamaha has a plant down south where the larger bikes are made. american or metric is in name only these days.

Where did you here this, off of some metric forum?
HD has had a plant in Brazil since the late 90s and assembles bikes there to sell in Brazil to avoid very high tariffs. NON are exported to the US.
