Loosing interest

2. Or a 20+ year old Japanese 650 or 750.
or
3. Or a dirtbike, 250-450.
#1 will be the purest Harley experience. I'm partial to XL1200s for this kind of riding.
#2 will just be fun--an old bike that has plenty of life and zip, not heavy, but one you can ride the snot out of and tear some schitt up.
#3 in many ways, dirtbikes are the purest form of riding. superlight, very responsive, great for practicing fundamentals. actually ride that thing in the dirt and you will feel like a little kid again.......and it will teach you a thing or two, as well

I've had at least three or four times when I actually sold the bike after not riding for a while. Each time that turned out to be a bad decision as the urge to ride again returns a lot faster when there's no two wheeler parked in the garage!
Regardless, it always passed eventually. I wouldn't worry about it.Best of luck & Ride Safe (when you do!),

I rarely rode when I was raising my kids because I tried to spend as much time doing things with them and since they can't ride their own bikes when they're little, it wasn't fair to take off on a bike while the kids needed somebody to throw a baseball with or take horseback riding.
The spring will bring the urge to ride back out. Also, planning a new trip will get your juices flowing again. If not, take up golf or whatever. Just don't flop down in front of a TV and waste your life like a lot of people do.
I know when I go through hard times I lose interest doing the things I normally love to do, probablly just down about something else unrelated to riding.
Just putting a hunch out there..
The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
i was about to trade my NT for a SG. after test rode it, i felt like driving a car. it wont give u the feeling of looking forward to jump on ur bike and have that road/wind contact !! im sticking to my NT untill i can afford a touring bike beside it.
Interestingly, to me, the Road Glide Custom feels MUCH less like a geezer glide than a SG/EG/UG does. The Road Glide has a lot more open space ahead of you than those bikes do. And with the 2010, a low wind screen, which I really love... for me it's perfect. (6' and full face helmet). I guess that's why I'm ok with the RGC as my only bike. It's a touring bike that doesn't feel much like a touring bike.
After test riding the SG/EG/UG and RG, I chose the Road Glide because the other bikes just felt too closed-in/car-like to me. If I had a SG/EG/UG (great bikes that they are if you like 'em) I'd really have to have a Dyna as well. But after having a Road Glide, I doubt I'd ever buy a SG/EG/UG. Someday I will buy a tourpak for the RG for occasional use, though. As for the radio, nah, I generally have no use for it... I like the sounds of riding.
So, for those who might feel the SG/EG/UG are too car-like as touring bikes, test ride a new Road Glide Custom... you may find that a touring bike can feel a lot more like a hot rod than you thought!
