Paul in Colorado
Hehe! Yeah me too. I never even put the bike away.
Lot's of opportunities to ride throughout the winter. Love spring & fall
although fall seemed kind of short this year. Maybe we'll have
an early spring.
glad U make it home safe...
Hows the Elk and Deer season this yr. Used to hunt out there back in the 70's & 80's
camped around Alamosa and Monte Vista.....
Just made me think of a pair of peaks the locals called Dolly Pardons......Man thats been a while......
Not a hunter myself, but the deer & elk are doing well. Saw numerous
bulls and bucks either on the road in front of me or by the side of the road this fall.
Never heard of the, "Dolly Pardons", but then the San Louis Valley is a long way from
me and a whole nother world. Spent a week in Alamosa one time years ago and didn't
care much for it. Too far from the mountains. As the crow flies it's
about 40 miles to the foot hills of the Sangre De Cristo range. Rough
country for sure and not many paved roads. Never been to Monte Vista.
Yaa, sleet hurts like hell. I was caught in it about 30 miles from home and it tore my friggin' face off, I mean I was bleeding. Not much, but there was blood. Might of helped if we had slowed down a bit, naaa, screw it I'm to pretty anyways.
I can't even imagine riding in crap like that for 30 miles! I guess if I had to
in order to get the bike, (and myself), home I'd do it. Sure would suck tho.
I'm usually pretty good at avoiding bad weather but I decided to stop at the
grocerie store on my way home. Was in there about 20 mins., about
the same amount of time the ride home would take. When I came out it was spittin'.
Stings abit don't it? LOL. Got caught a couple of years ago in the same *****. Sucked big time! But, like you I made it home in one piece........and I still remember that ride. 'Nother one, on the way home it started to snow about 30 miles out from the house.......slowed waaaay down but made it home. Still remember that one too. Funny how we remember the "worst" ones, huh?
Trippy, my son and I rode from Jefferson to Buena Vista in a steady rain snow mix
about 20 years ago and I will always remember that one. We were soaked to the bone.
Miserable.
That ride last night only lasted about 30 or 40 mins. and I didn't
get completly soaked. I think this one will pass.
Met a guy one time trying to get to Cali from N.Y. and it was raining
when we met. He really looked miserable. My son and I bought him
lunch in a sit down resturant. Sure hope he made it!
That happened to me last year, road about 30 mi in on and off snow, sleet and rain. The worst part was my gloves soaked thru and by the time I got home my hands were fff ff frrrr ooooooooooozzzeeeee.
