Default How to spend $3k

Hi all,

I just bought a 2006 Road King with 43,000 miles for $8k. I'd like to throw about $3k into the motor...for more power and whatever stability that might get me. I had a 2005 Softail Deluxe that I had the dealer install a Stage II kit on, that seemed strong enough, but I wouldn't mind even more power. Would that be the way to go now? Could Stage III be had for that much? Additionally, what should I be checking or concerned about for this model with these models?

Lots of questions I know, but in spite on NOT being a new rider, I have no mechanical know-how whatsoever. Please advise. Thanks.

This post would serve you better in the road king section of the forums, some of those boys have some sick rides. They could easily match you up with something to fit your budget.

You could easily spend that cash on 95" upgrade a indy shop.

$3000 sounds like a lot.
But
If you just bought the bike you may wish to consider waiting..
Might change a seat, tires or handlebars but consider waiting to see if you really want to keep the bike.
Something major could break and eat the $3 grand real quick.
You would get about 10 cents on the dollar on trade-in for any upgrade you do if you decide not keeping it.

+1 on the 95" engine upgrade at an indy shop.

Honestly, you could buy a Jimms or S&S 124" motor for twice that much and then sell the Motor that you took out!

Seems like 3k should get U a 95'' kit, gear cams or cams and new hyd tennsioners, head work and pipes with dyno and have change left over.
