I too applaude the MAN for being a standup DAD. I believe in the bible and there is a reason the verse reads spare the rod spoil the child. That is the problem with this current and younger generation. GOD FORBID they are held accountable for there actions.
Let me relay a TRUE STORY that I was involved in
A middle aged man walked into the police station and I was just coming out of the radio room. I was the supervisor in charge so when he asked for a spervisor I advised him I was it. He politely headed his 13 year old daughter over to me and advised me that since the POLICE want to raise her here she is.
I quickly asked WHAT THE HECK he was talking about. He stated that a month ago he corrected his daughter for staying out till 2 in the morning, He spanked that ***. She called the police and the father was told by another officer that he couldn't hit the child.
The father was very frustrated because now the girl was runing rabbid. She would not listen to anything he said and was staying out till all hours of the night. Everytime he would yell at her she treatened to call the police. So he was afraid to do anything.

I explained to him that I believe that god in his infinate wisdom created out BUTTS for two reasons. sitting and hitting!!! [sm=smiley19.gif]They serve no other useful purpose other than that. I also explained that MOST people had a problem because they went beyound the boundaries of the hitting area. When the person doing the corrective measure abused the area then we had to act on it.
He asked me if he spanked her would I have a problem. I advised him how I did it. I sat down with him and her I advised her that he loved her and wanted only the best for her; I had him hug her and then told him to take his belt and administer 3 good licks on the butt only. NO LEGS, BACK area, and so forth. He did just that[sm=boohoo.gif] and I advised him to hug her and tell her he loved her and that it hurt him to do that. He acted on everything I advised. I never had to referee another episode with them again. I saw them later and he stated that he has had no more problems with the girl. When she would get cocky he would take my business card and advise her that he was going to call me again. WAAALLAAA she would straighten right out.
CORRECT discipline is a good thing. UNFORTUNATELY many people spank in anger and loose control.
I'll get off my podeum now [sm=icon_blah.gif]

when a child tells their parent, ha, you touch me I call the cops, now folks that is just wrong, and you can see them kids all over the place, they have no respect for anybody or anything..

Funny I used to tell my kids to call them....they still got spanked.
LoL yep, I remember growing up and my cousin decided to "run away", was gone for 45 minutes. Came home, got her butt paddled by my uncle. She calls the cops, cops show up, hear the story and watch as my uncle spanks her again for wasting thier time.

Ahhh the memories!<g>

I should also clarify, the spanking witnessed today was more of a "public humiliation" type of deal...not a WHAM WHAM WHAM whuppin'.

It's the way I was raised, the way I'm raising my kids and I hope to he11 they raise thiers the same way. I can count how many times I was "spanked" on both hands, and prolly have a couple fingers left over. If my ma grabbed the wooden mixing spoon I *knew* I was in trouble and made d@mn sure I either didn't do it again...or at least didn't get caught again.

It seems to me if more parents weren't afraid to do that we all would be better off.

Public Humiliation? Yep, but justified because of his Public Disobiedance. I was tough, he walked the straight and narrow.
I'm with ****** on this. I would much rather discipline my children now by inflicting public humiliation than let the courts do it later when they are sentenced to jail.

Or when you went to somebodies house , you were told before hand to sit in the chair and don`t touch anything. Now adays the kids are all over the place and into everything and the parents just sit there like nothings wrong ! My .02

I know it's hard to hold a temper in a situation like that

but I'm not sure that was the apropriate place to do that.

In the 1950s when I was young, I definately did NOT want to hear -

"Get your pants down"

Meant a big leather belt was comin my buttt's way.

I survived, and thick skin for it.

Nowadays, kid hears "Get your pants down".

Thinks - OH, good, mommas gonna kiss on it some more.
