Sorry you're tweaked at not getting double-discounts. I guess the first question is, "Why do you expct discounts to begin with?" Second: "What's wrong with the dealer making a profit so they can (a) stay in business; (b) employ members of the community (multiplying wealth) and (c) be there when you need parts or service?"
In light of the numbers of dealers who have folded in the past year, I'm glad to have 2 within an hour of where I live. They're financially hurting, & I don't mind easing their pain as they multiply my enjoyment of my EGC.
My $.02.
Nothing is wrong with a dealer staying in business; but at full MSRP here in Las Vegas; I buy online at 20% and no tax; so my dealer has lost my business unless its an emergency. If my local dealers were a bit flexible price wise I would buy all my stuff locally; including the Ultra I purchased out of state since they wouldn't move. They can stay in business AND work with you; others do!

I don't expect discounts. I didn't understand why dealers would advertise 10% when I already get that 10% off with my HOG card. A lot of dealers that I have been to will give you 10% off for being a member. I THOUGHT EVERY HOG MEMBER GOT THIS DEAL. That is why I posted this question. Now I know not every dealer gives a hog discount.
And to answer your question "Why do I expect a discount? Whats wrong with a dealer making a profit?......"
Hell yeah I want a discount. Are you telling me that you would pay full MSRP on a bike and not try to make a deal? I buy stuff all the time. But when I am looking to add a tour pack plus all of the docking hardware, I am looking at about $1200. If I can save more than $120, I'll try.
Yeah the economy is hurting and dealers are closing. They are not closing because they offered someone 20% off an accessory instead of 10%. And at 20% they are still making a profit.
Like posted before: Count your blessings if your dealer gives you the 10% HOG discount.
At my dealer you have to be a local member to get the discount.
Now he owns another store and those chapter members have to show up to the monthly meetings to get a coupon that's good for that month only.
I always ask when I am shopping at other dealers if my national HOG membership gets me a discount. You would be suprised on how many do honor the national card for the discount.
I would be happy if the dealer here thought enough about our business to give us 10%. We only get 5%. That's why I order on-line when I can wait for it.
Dealers around Wisconsin are competitive. I can get 20% off one weekend a month somewhere. At that, I am better off buying from them and they know it. They don't lose their business to on-line. Also, I bargained for 20% off accessories for my new bike when I bought it for 6 months.
Wake up and smell the Harley crap. I'm a HOG memeber and have been for years and it's for the rides and we help a lot of people out during the year.
If you want good discount buy from Chicago Harley or Zannoti's.
I wonder if Rolls Royce owners bitch sooooo much about the price of parts & accessories! ...................I would hope not.
They do. I spent a few years working for a high-line new car dealership; we carried Jaguar, BMW, Audi, and Rolls Royce/Bentley They all complain non stop.
Several dealers around here including my local used to offer a HOG discount. None do any more. In fact the last dealership I was in that offered a HOG discount is Savannah Harley.
But I got lucky. The parts manager at my local dealer knows I order most of my stuff online. So he decided to get my business and started giving me 20% off. No sales tax and no shipping cost. They also have a rewards points program where for every $500 you spend you get $25. Well I just ordered a tour pak and all the necessities as well as a few other parts and saved around $300. On that particular day they were giving double points so I will have an additional $100 to spend.
