My wife just got me one today. Looks just like a hand grenade so naturally I love it being a military guy. I put it on myself because my wife would have no idea where to put it. I think the bell gods will understand.

well this seems like the perfect opportunity to start a collection of rules for the bell. I will add the ones I have heard.
1. cant buy your own bell
2. cant touch your bell til its on the bike
3. it is supposed to be mounted low to the ground toward the front of the bike to scare off the road gremlins
4. new bike , new bell.
5. you must make a ride of at least 100 mile before you can receive a bell.

these are just the ones I have heard.

I cut a deal with the gremlins. I mount my bells rigid so they cannot move and upside down so the gremlins can ride along. They enjoy this so much they have agreed to cause no mischief on my bike, but they do like it when I park close to bikes without bells so they can jump off and wreak havoc on them.

I heard you get more protection if you ****** one off of the bike of the biggest dude at the ice house and ask him if it really works.

Just bought another bike took the other bell off my first Harley and put it on this one. A good friend gave it to me. I cut off the bell on the new bike and will give it back to the previous owner.

My wife's attempt at putting it on resulted in it falling off 50 miles later. Thank goodness my buddy seen it fall off! We stopped turned around and picked it up. So I retied it in my wife's presence and 2 1/2 years later its still on. The one my mom got for me has been with me for the last 26 years on every bike that I have ever owned.
