what was yer first car and did you pay/work for it? Or was it handed to you?
Wolf
1935 Ford Seeedan. Traded a 61 inch basket case chopper for it. In 1964.
Hand crank to start it. Mechanical brakes.
Put a 55 chev V8 in it about a year later. Real torpedo with those brakes.
My first car that I bought....1979 Z28 brand new off the showroom floor. Had a Corvette L82 with a slap stick and Carter 4bbl....all compliments of Chevrolet. Never lost a race in the 1/4 mile. D@mn I miss that car. I kept it until 1990. I heard the guy wrecked it. Tim
Mom bought an 85 Chevy Convertible and I got the 1977 2-Door White Ford Granada. So... Free. I miss that car too... had a 302 but was still a dog... but had lots of room inside.
After that came the 1972 4-Door Impala. Rust and Yellow on the outside and GREEN on the inside. Ugly doesn't even begin to describe properly. But I paid $350 for it in 1990. This one had a 350 small block in it and ran like a friggin land yacht. fun to drive though... All my friends had the little chevys and whatnot and I had this thing... Would throw like 10 people in it to go to lunch at school. =)
Next car was a 1966 2-Door Chevy Impala fastback with the Turbo-Slide tranny and a 350 w/4bbl card. I still had the 72 but this this was cool and only cost me $300. Bought this was in 1992 (or maybe '93). It was primer black... had a whole in the floor big enough to drop a case of beer out of (do not ask how I know that). And the gas tank was being held on with Bungee Cords. Driving down I-55 one night the bungee cords gave way and the tank was sliding underneath the car with sparks flying and everything... Only thing keeping it on the car was teh fuel line.
Holy crap I should be dead...
The '72 is the one I liked the best. Something would go wrong with it... So I would park it in the garage for two weeks and when I got back to it everything would be fine. =) You just have to love self-healing cars. =)
1965 Mustang Fastback 2+2.Had some GT parts on it.TA's and American Racing rims.
Blue with some purple pearl in it,and black racing stripes.Dropped a 302 in it,with mild cam, headers, holley carb, edelbrock manifold.
Sweet machine.It's the only car I had,and I had some nice ones,that I wish I still had.
and yes,I paid for it myself,1000 bucks from a friend.
It had a fold down backseat.LOL.
I only have one picture of it,but I don't have a scanner
