Default RE: First car

First car was a VW Bug cut down and built into a Baja. Had a 1835cc VW Bus engine with 2 Holley 650 4bl Carbs. With 32in mud tires on the rear I could smoke all 4 gears on dry asphalt. Used to go mudding with all the 4x4 rednecks in my high school early in the mornings before school. I'd wait till one of them got stuck and then drive the baja right through where they were stuck.

We had one creek that we used to go in up stream and drive down stream about 150ft and up the bank on the other side. After a good rain it would swell up so much the 4x4's wouldn't go in it. The baja was water tight, light weight, and extremely bouyant so I'd run in the creek up stream and float down stream to the bank on the other side throwing mud across stream the whole time running up the othe bank. Used to **** off my gf cause inevitably she'd end up having to go to school with muddy wet clothes. Not the image she wanted to maintain being a cheerleader.

Sold that car before my Jr year and bought a 76' Camaro Z28.

'65 Chevy impala. Got it in 1980, Painted it Canary yellow my first paint job using IMRON. Huge back seat. Threw a rod in the original engine and then dropped in a 327 with a high rise manifold and double 4 barrel holleys. Hot cam and all. I loved that car. Did I mention huge back seat?

It got totalled by some drunks in a Toyota in front of my moms house.

'68 Plymouth Valiant. Three speed on the column with a slant 6 engine. Even in those days the car got over 20 MPG. Bought it my own bad self. Traded in '73 for a '73 Mustang Grande that I had until last year.

My first car was a 1973 Plymouth Satellite. I was 15 1/2 and the car cost me $450.00 My Dad paid half and I paid the other half, and I had to payback my dad $25.00 a week until pay'd in full. I had it pay'd for by the time I turned 16.

'78 Ford Pinto Wagon complete with wood paneling adhesive on the sides. Was quite the babe magnet Got it from my Dad. It's the only thing he ever gave me. The car was a real piece of crap but I was happy to be driving

Looked like this only with the "stylish" wood paneling adhesive

1952 Chevy PU, my dad and I stuck a 283 in it replacing the straight 6. It only lasted about 4 months, the next one was a 1963 4-door Rambler Ambassador witha 327. It hauled butt and had lay down seats

1967 Impala SS convertable for $1500. The 327 had a cracked block. The top was none existent. The interior was rough. I replaced the 327 with a 350, rebuilt that. Paid to have a new top put on. Bought a 1970 Caprice with mint interior but rotted everything else for $100, then stripped the interior to put into the Impala. Spent the better part of 7 years (and countless hard earned Army dollars) fixing her up. I then decided to finish school and go back active Army as an officer. I sold the car and bought a new 1997 F-150. I still wish I kept her but I didn't have the money for both and I was moving. Thanks to her I got into auto mechanics and auto body work. Every time I work on my wifes truck or mine I always thing back to the old Chevy and thank her for the lessons learned. Anyone have a 1967 Impala SS convertable, red, for sale cheap? I got 1500 dollars!
