how much owner maintenence can you do and still keep a new bike warrantee valid?
i'm not sure i want to give my dealer $430.00 every 2500 miles.
thx,
goo
No but you need to keep records on your maintenence. Reciepts on work done elsewhere reciepts on oil/filters purchased also it wouldn't hurt to take photos of you doing the work. And unless you want to fix your bike on your own dime while you are fighting HD and their attorneys for reimbursement under the warranty good luck on enforcing Mag-Moss, not sayin it won't work and I think that it is great that its there but I would not count on that to twist HDs arm into fixing your bike.
You can change all of the fluids yourself. Just keep records, dates, what products you used and such. I would say that you can do every part of the scheduled service that you're comfortable with and capable of doing. Harley won't void your warranty for that unless your motor blows and they discover that you used pancake syrup for oil.

$245 has been the most I've paid for any of the 5 I had done so far...and that was with syn oil on two of them. $160 on one I supplied oil.
Word of advise...Don't simply save reciepts. Track EVERYTHING. Adjustments, torques on critical fastners, tire changes, every single thing you do to your ride.
I use this program for tracking, and it tracks EVERYTHING including insurance info, purchase info, fuel, trips, maintence, accessories, all including dates, who performed the work, where the parts were purchased etc... With a section oneach for notes of what you did or found while working on it. Once a year I print out the accessories list and give it to my Insurance agent so he has a full list of whats on my ride. Just in case..
I have no affiliation with the person selling the program, I am simply someone that bought it a few years back, and use it constantly
