One thing you need to make sure of chromedome is that you get a jacket that has thick, yet SOFT leather. With the apes a hard leather jacket will put the collar up at the top back of your head...lol. I had an old jacket that I loved but I could'nt wear it anymore with apes just because of this.
I've been needing a quality riding jacket and gloves for a while. Kept putting it off since I wanted to do some research first, do the whole price, quality, value assessment thing.
Based on reviews I read here and from looking over their website, I just called Fox Creek and ordered their Grayson leather jacket and the Black Cascadia Deerskin Gloves.
Lady I spoke to took the time to answer all my questions to make sure I got exactly what I wanted and a great fit.
Today they are open reduced hours and having a one day black Friday sale. Suffice it to say that the deal I got on the jacket, gloves, leather care kit and (free) wallet was mind-blowingly awesome And they are totally U.S. made
And to think a few weeks ago I was this -> <- close to buying a River Road.
so how does everyone feel about the armored jackets vs not.
I have a sports bike jacket. love the fit, protection, but it just doesn't go with the new bike.
I would prefer to have some added protection, with pre-curved sleeves
I will go a bit further, Armour and Pads are very good. My Vanson summer mesh armour all the way. On the Lanlitz I have pads on the shoulder and elbows. They work. Funny, I do get looks or questions about personal protection devices that I choose. To me the only thing that I care about is I am a remember as a skilled rider could care less about looks or the unecessary noise.

I don't mind the looks...
I just prefer something that better fits the style of bike and offers protection.
I love my Joe Rocket(lower end), but offers better protection than most traditional motorcycle jacket without armor.
thanks for the info, I am looking into some of the brands mentioned.

It's the Road Warrier 3 with the hooded insert. The only fault i have with it is that I bought it an extra size larger so I could add layers of clothing in colder weather. That allows the wind to make it puff out a bit at highway speeds.
That's a common issue for a lot of jackets. Being able to adjust it with side laces or a waist band is nice.
Fox Creek all the way. It seems like their mission is to have the best fit. I love mine. I think it also depends what you want your jacket to do. If you want a "cool" look but don't really care about protection, then the thinner, more fashion, type will do. But if you want some good riding protection then a Fox Creek will fit the bill.
However, I won't wear my Fox Creek jacket if I'm not riding. It just isn't a "knock around" type jacket
They said sort of the same thing when I bought my black Bates Jacket. The seamstress said that the jacket was made to be worn while riding, not hanging out in a bar or walking the parking lot at a bike rally. And she's right, when I'm on the bike the jacket feels so comfortable. Thank God I have a tourpack on my bike to keep it in'cause I hate to wear it walking around.

What you're looking for is a Vanson Model "C". These are cut shorter in the waist. I have one & it is exactly what you're describing. Top notch quality, but you get your money's worth. It fits perfect in the riding position (doesn't push up around your neck from the bottom of the jacket hitting your legs), tight zippered cuffs, extra long sleeves, & thick tough quality leather. Most of all made in the USA!
They have changed their description of this model jacket & don't mention the way it is cut, their old website used to tell you the differences in the various models cuts. Give them a call & they can explain.
