I'll try my best to describe it.I know it's hard to pinpoint without hearing it in person.I'm just trying to get an idea on where to look first.I just went through almost every nut, bolt and fastener on the bike.Everything is snug and tight.I checked both tires,no nails or screws in them and the pressure is good. Now for the noise description...
I don't feel anything, but I sure hear it.It's a fast paced wah wah wah wah wah wah wah wah wah wah wah sound!?
It only does it when I'm going over 45.It only does it when I'm leaning to the right.Never when I'm straight or leaning to the left.I took a long right handed sweeper the other day and I thought something was going to blow up or sieze up.As soon as I got it straightened up,the noise was gone. It's gotten worse and worse within the past week or two. When I first started hearing it,I thought it was just me.That's not the case anymore.
It's gotta be something that goes round and round.I'm thinking maybe its a wheel bearing? The bike has 26k miles.I've put 17k on the bike and god only knows if they were ever replaced before.I'm not even sure how long wheel bearings are supposed to last.Any clues, ideas or hints are appreciated!
It's a 99 XL 1200C if that helps!
Thanks in advance!
I guess I'll say it, You hear "wah wah wah?" Are you packin' anyone behind ya?? Sorry, no offense, but it sounds interesting. Yeah, check your rolling speed, possibly primary or wheels, just a thought. cole
My Softail makes a sound that drove me nuts until I happened to be beside another bike during a run making the same noise.
My belt guard makes an on off noise at similiar speeds....the vibrations at those rpms must just be right. It's not quite a waa waa (lol), but it is an odd noise. I thought it was tranny/clutch related since that's the area is was coming from.
And since you say it's on the right........I'd look at the belt guard first.
