My dad once said to me, while I was picking up my bike after a rather nasty fail, "your not learning anything if you don't fall." It works, I never forgot what led to that fail.

I have come close a few times myself. We all do stupid things, that's why we wear helmets.

The insurance for the bike is right on top of it and will proceed quickly for repairs with the best care and parts. Now if I can just get TriCare to get their act together, everything should turn out Ok. May need some metal and screws in the distal end of the fibula near the ankle, not enough to make a good mend without it. Will probably be out for at least 3 -4 months. Enough time for me to evaluate my indiscretions and failure to protect my scoot. Thank you everyone for the great good feelings.

Sounds like your gonna have an ankle like mine i just blewout my ankle an this is what they did to repair it Oct 30. At least 6 months before I can get back on the scooter. They call it ORIF Open Reduction Internal Fixation ,

That's exactly what happened to me, except it was my left fibula not the right like yours. They said I could walk on it in two weeks, but getting back on the scoot will probably be the same time as they quoted for you. Looks like we make it for the early spring thaw.

I took my son to his first basketball practice last week. We were not the 5 minutes when the coach slipped on some water on the floor and broke her ankle. You dont have to just be on the bike to be looking out. Accidents happen everywhere.

I been in a removeable boot type setup after two weeks in a normal type cast, but was not allowed to put any weight on the leg till five weeks after surgery. Today (Fri) is six weeks since surg. I am able to put about half my weight down now till the end of the month. Getting pretty stiff and lost alot of muscle in such a short time. Gettin better every day. Think my doc is alot more conservative. Hang in there.

OH No, now you will lear the truth, this is really not the best way to upgrade the scoot. Stay away from those pain meds they sneak up on you just ask Rush L. What were we talking about? Sorry that you have joined the too long list of those who have had a bad day of riding. It does sometimes help me appreciate the other (GREAT) days though. Speedy recover.
