Only problem I've had is inside of the bolt where the socket or screw driver goes rusts after installation. I dab aluminum paint over it and it's undetectable. A lot of people use stainless steel bolts instead.

if I get near my chrome with a wrench. I use blue tape. Keep a piece of leather handy for loosening and tightning also use correct loctite

Hot toppers work for me. Got em from the front calipers back to the license plate and everything in between. Posers can't figure out how the bike is held together because you don't see any nuts, bolts or allen heads.
