I was reading the thread asking what your dealer does when you buy a new HD. That got me to thinking. Now don't get me wrong, I too "expect" some free stuff everytime I buy a new Harley, esp the t-shirt(s) and have always gotten stuff. BUT with that said why do we really expect that and why do we get so upset if we don't get anything? I mean think about it. Depending on what Harley you buy it cost you $7K-$28K (Non-CVO cause CVO bikes come with extras anyway). BUT with that said we spend a lot more on cars, trucks, and SUV's and don't expect anything but the keys and don't get upset about it. I know on my last HOG 2 months ago all totaled with extras I spent about $22K and WANTED that damn t-shirt. But I spent $65K last year on an Escalade and didn't expect a dang thing. Kinda crazy when you think about it.
Because these are luxury, over priced, non essential items to most people. When I bought my Heritage the economy was just starting to sink. I expected and got 1.05% financing and a $1500 gift card to be used at the dealership.
Your "Escalade" not withstanding, maybe it has something to with the fact that you can get a very nicely deck-out cage with all kinds of bells, whistles and power everything, for not much more than we pay for 2 wheels, a frame, motor, seat and gas tank.
You got ripped off! I paid $3K for my 99 Ultra and got T-short from salvage auction!
I would never buy a Cadillac w/o free T-short! (That is not true, I had Eldorado and 2 Devils and no T-shorts...) Now I feel like an idiot! 2 Corvettes, 2 Jaguars, Maseratti, 3 Town Cars, Mark 8 and never T-short! My day is ruined! Thank you very much, man!
