I bought one mirror for the left side with an extension.
In order for the mirror to be functional for me, I would like to bend the stainless steel stem.
Has anyone done this and if yes, how.
Yes I have. I used a heat resistant welders putty and spaced the putty about an inch apart and heated the stem that was exposed it the center to bend it then i polished out the disscolored part. I used an accetileen torch I dont know if a propane torch will work? I hope this helps.
If that is your scoot in the avatar it has black mirrors, yes? You can bend the stem in a vice very carefully after heating it for a bit and then repaint the stem with HD flat black. I painted one of my stems as they were scratched and from a wrecked bike and you cannot tell the difference from the factory paint. I don't know what extension you have, but soos here on the forum offers black powdercoated mirror extensions like the HD chrome ones.
You can just see the black mirror extension in this shot
