The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
1-Designed to work with clutch packs (Auto trans have multiple clutch packs)
2-It's light weight allows it to dissapate heat much quicker than the thicker oils (main purpose of oil in the primary to start with)
3-High in detergents that help keep clutch discs cleaner
4-No anti-friction modifiers
5-ATF is used in most 4WD transfer cases so it's proven to be a good chain lubricant
I installed a Barnett clutch pack with an extra disc along with ATF and the difference is amazing. My clutch hooks up way better now even doing holeshots if I want to. I do ride my bike harder than the average rider and put more on the clutch. So far the ATF and new clutch are doing awesome.
Simple tests: rub a little ATF between your finger and thumb lightly and then with pressure as if you were snapping your finger. You'll find that with no pressure, the ATF is slippery, but with pressure, the ATF actually begins to act as a gripping agent. It's designed to do that.
