I've just been back into riding for a little over a year, am 41 and have an 02 Road King Classic that I love! I keep reading about people on this forum that go and spend thousands on a new Harley without previously ever owning one and then get on here and start b*tchin about how their Harley isn't fast enough, too hot, clanking gears, etc, blah. blah. blah. Hell, who goes out and finances a bike for years and years and doesn't do any research! If you're not happy, sell the bike and like the helmet sticker..."Quit ur B*tchin! ..especially on a Harley forum.
I'm riding only my second Harley. Actually, I am still a little surprised I bought another Harley after the experience I had with my first one. I've been very inquisitive since I've had my first Harley and still haven't figured out how many of the complaints are valid and all of the complaints about Harley dealers from seasoned Harley owner/riders. I think and rightfully so, some new Harley owners are disillusioned about their first Harley and feel the need to vent. Not counting the Trolls and anyone else that's trying to create hate and discontent, I read several complaints from people that are not just on their first Harley. Do you have to have a Harley for a pre-determined time before having complaining rights? Some of the new owners may just want to feel like they are excepted and part of something here.
Don't tell them this stuff because the next bike I might buy could be from them at a discounted price. This parallels, why so many bikes with low miles.
As a H-D tech,Im allways saying,They shouldve had to own a shovelhead or ironhead before ever buying a twin cam, then they would know what Noise, vibaration, and oil consumption is all about.....Like you said blah blah blah.
Ya know, I thought that there was something wrong with me. I've had seven Harleys since 1985, and had only very minor problems with any of them. I have also delt with several different dealers around this country, and found all of them to be very professional too. I'm sure that some people have problems with their bikes and dealers as well, but I'm also fairley sure that a lot of peoble just like to "bee itch" for the fun of it.
I worked as a John Deere mechanic years ago for a couple of years, and I found that there were actually some people that "enjoyed" having mechinical problems with their machinery just so they would have something to complain and gripe about. I have serious doubts that some of todays Harley riders are any different than those tractor owners were back then.
