Local chapters (2) here are both pretty loose on rules & are populated by a good bunch of folks. I only occasionally attend meetings or participate in group rides but usually enjoy myself when I do. Also got involved in PGR through a local chapter.
Life and local member. Good bunch of people in our chapter and good activities. Not loaded down with rules -- you just use common sense. If I want to ride with the group - fine, it not, I go my own route. I do not attend the meetings or participate as much as I like but I do what I can. I like the National and State Rally's. Don't need the towing, that is covered by my insurance, but the discount is a well worth bonus which pays for the chapter membership fee on the first purchase.
The dealer gave me a one year subscription when I bought my bike and I plan to join the local. I doubt that I will renew my national after the 1st year. Just can't see any great benefit in belonging.
gotta be a National member to belong to a local HOG
yes---I figure between hog and my insurance with towing someone will pay for the towing. Best of all they will find someone to tow me. I have no use for the local hog chapter--good people but as with most groups there are the cliques.
