I make that trip maybe 10 times a year on the bike. Have daughter in Ellicott City MD. Use Pa Turnpike but watch going over the mountain weather does change fast . And it is always cooler in the summer too.Look for weather in Somerset PA. What dealer did you buy from ?

P.S. If you are getting it from one in Pittsburgh ,Turnpike is the fastest . If you need directions I'll give you my number.

I got the dealer to deliver my new limited as apart of the deal. about 100 miles. Hey times are tough tell him you can go elsewhere. They will come across if they think you'll not buy from them.

The forecast has changed to a high of 44.....so I reserved a pickup for the day. I'll drove out load it up and drive home. Plan to leave by 6am so that I can get home and hopefully still have some time to ride a little.

I would have just shipped it but I did this through Ebay, and even though the seller has almost 1000 all positive, I really want to see the bike before handing over the $$$.

I picked up some tie down straps, when for over kill w/ 6 ratcheting straps so that I can do 4 up front and 2 in the back.

My riding gear is good up until about 50 then it gets iffy.... I might look into some heated gloves/vest. I definitely need better gloves.

looking forward to the new bike, my last harley was a 65 sporty...not a great daily ride....
I think that is a wise choice. Don't know what type of weather you all have up there but if it has snowed and there is salt on the road no since in doing any damage to the new scooter for one good day of riding. Congrats on the new scooter. Ride safe

last winter the one that did my cams charge $25. for a 60mile trip.. I rode her home when it was done...
So even $75-$100 delivery charge wouldn't be out to much....If the weather is to bad to ride..

I rode today in D.C., the highs coming home were very nice (high 40's), the lows going to work (high 20's), sucked after about 15 minutes. You did good by trucking it home, get it home, work on your gear for next winter. I love my fatbob, I think it is the perfect harley for the D.C. area. Just added the tribar, cleans the rear real nice.

I need some heated gear ASAP, but only two month left! March will be here soon!

Default Talk to 'em!!!

+1 Hardwork2! I did the same arrangement. I live in upstate NY-found an 09' Fatty with 1500 miles on it. After several emails/calls back and forth got the dealer (Battle Creek HD in Michigan) to ship it to our local dealer here in Corning,NY. NO ship/doc/dealer fees whatsoever. The price it was listed at I bought it for. Great service from a young lady there who was VERY helpful! That being said-IF you have a friend with a full size truck and a locking tie down strap or two you can get it home very easily and safely as well. IF they won't work a shipping deal, find a bud and offer the gas and lunch and go get your Fatty!! Either way enjoy your new bike and you'd be amazed at how a good tie down hold your bike securely IF you know what you are doing. Good luck!!

It is supposed to be 45ish on monday so if you are back in time (and assuming you have day off) you will be able to take her for a short spin.
I know I planning on being out on Sat and Mon.
I bet you can also pick up gloves if you are planning on swinging by the Motorcycle show that is running fr,sa, su in the reagan building downtown. I planning on heading over tonight. Or maybe you can haggle with the dealer when you get to there and see if he will throw in some decent gloves.
