I would pull up next to them but stay back a foot or so. Doing so will let them know that I am not trying to take their right of way. Let them leave first and pass em later if need be.

If they want to pull up next to me, more power to them. If they have plenty of space on their right, I'll pull up next to them if I'm in a talkative or head-noddin' mood.

Here in Californian - land of legal lane sharing - I'll pull up to another rider if there is room and they will do the same to me. But that's the way it is here and nobody gets their BVD's in a bunch about it. What makes it really fun is to hole shot the other rider and see who's the fastest off the line. Last Wednesday I pulled up to a new Ducati Hyper-motard at a red light and said "nice bike", when the light turned green I hammered it and waited for him to catch up. As he was passing me he gave me a thumbs up. It's all good if you don't sweat it.

As a chick I have had guys on bikes pull up next to me.. As long as they are respectful I don't really care. But I am not going to ride next to anyone so I let they take off first. But I would like to bitch slap the fricking guys in cars that have pulled in my lane and then tried to talk to me..:icon_v iking:. Just the other day I told a guy off for doing this...

Matuchi, I agree with you, I think we take ourselves a little to seriously sometimes. I think it might be an East Coast thing. nobody better pull up next to me and say hello, come on let's lighten up.

If you could spend a summer riding in California you'd be so used to sharing lanes that when you went back home you'd think not being able to do so sucks bad. I read about life long Californians moving out of state and the thing they miss the most is lane sharing.

If it was not so expensive I would retire there. I hate winter.

I was in traffic. It was moving 5mph or less and lots of stopping. The guy on the mc in front of me would ride and stop at the very left side of the lane. I stayed to the right but would never pull up next to him. I do the same at lights. He seemed to be open to me pulling up next to him but I never did.

What do y'all do?
unless you know them or you're invited up stay the hell out of their space

Not sure I understand this....Some guy pulls up beside you to say, "nice day for a ride eh?", or "nice bike" and your going to pull a gun on him????

If I feel chatty or have a question for the rider and he leaves proper space I'll pull up. I never get upset with another rider doing the same to me.

First in first out.
