Seriously. Does anyone know why H-D chose the handle 48 for the latest Sportster?
The IQ of their VP of Marketing?
That's got to be about the dumbest idea they've had in a LONG time....
And no, I've not forgotten about the Rocker or the Muscle. The 48, while not controversial in its styling, is not exactly what you'd call a "Good Idea". Frankly it rates right up there with Honda's Fury and DN01 - and its going to be sitting on the floors about as long.

Wanna bet? Kinda like the Nightsters that seem to fly out the door. They aren't exactly practical, but they seem to answer a need.

You better pass that along to all the people on waiting lists. As of now it is one of the most pre-sold bikes Harley has had in years.

Yup, all 48 of them. Pure and simple... another sales gimmick to attempt to get folks to buy a bike that will be deemed obsolete by the stealership in 5 years. In the interim they will introduce another limited special/anniversary model that will be 'limited' to 150K units of production and try to convince you that it will actually be worth something more than a regular bike of the same type in another five years beyond your purchase date.
If I was gonna drink the kool-aid I would have joined Jim Jones long ago.

What are you talking about? The first dealer demos? It is just another production model. If it runs for 5 years it would probably be fairly successful. Anything is worth what someone is willing to pay. If you can't afford it one don't get one. I buy then to ride, not as some kind of investment.
It is actually that 48% of the population will ride 48% of the year and have 48% more fill ups because of the 48% smaller tank which get 48 miles to the gallon . But since 1948, 48% of all people surveyed believe that the sportster 48 is going to account for 48% of HD sportsters sales. But really in fact this is all but 48% B.S. Don t really know what what I just said but it kinda sounds official! lol. i think it really is for the year it replicates. C
