I would suggest you get a Factory service manual and take a look at what is involved. You can ask the guys here and they will answer based on their own levels of competence but only you know what you are capable of.

Changed a few on big twins but never did any Sprotsters. It's a pain in the **** on a big twin because you have to pull the inner primary but that shouldn't be an issue with a sproty with it's right side drive. You will have to drop the swing arm however.

It's easy to replace the belt on a Sportie. I've had to replace the belt on my 1200C 3 times,it takes about 2-3 hours. You will need a manual and a jack.

I had a '91 1200 and put a 883 front drive sprocket on it. The lower gearing really lit it up.

No, you dont have to pull the swing arm. Just the lower shock bolt, gaurd, rear pipe and sprocket cover. The bike can stay right on its wheels since you only unhook 1 shock. I had to do it on a friends 05 883 with basic hand tools in a parking lot. Took about 1/2 hour.

Yeah, it's no trouble at all. Just make sure the rear wheel is lined up properly and the belt tension is correct. You can make a rear wheel alignment tool with one of the ol ladys coathangers and a couple small o rings. Just put a 90 degree short bend in one end. You have to have the harley tool (it's cheap) to get the belt tension right. There's no substitute for this.

My bad...That's what comes from old age and 26 years of riding Softails I guess.
