Default Anyone have this oxidation problem?

I got a new 06 Dyna Street Bob less than two months ago. After two weeks that I had it, all the hardware (nut and bolts) that wasn't chrome, oxidized really bad. The dealer said it shouldn't have happened that fast, but doesn't wan't to deal with it. I call Harley Motor Co. and they tell me its where I store it and won't do anything to help. I keep the bike in a steel storage shed with a pressure treated plywood floor thats been dried out and has a moisture barrier under it, no chemicals and no problems with my old bike that was kept in it. If anyone has had this problem also, or anyone can help I'd really appreciate it .

My engine guard and my saddle bag guards oxidized (almost turned black in spots) within 2 months of buying my 05 EGlide.Harley sent new ones and my local shop swapped them (no questions asked) and I haven't had a problem sense.Warranty should cover it.Whatever you do.If they ask you if you use any kind of cleaner the answer is,you just rinse it down and wipe it off.

Take it as a lesson learned....the MOCO will never drive by your house to inspect your garage.

Next time tell them you park in your climate controlled, dry basement.

One of my co-workers has that on his bike, but he stores it in a steel shed over winter, which I suspect is the problem - moisture for long periods. I know this sound like overkill, but my sales lady said a layer of visqueen (sp?), then a layer of plywood, then a layer of carpet on top is a good method. I've also heard of placing a pan of kitty litter under the bike, or hanging bags of silica gel on bike to absorb moisture. Make sure if you are using a cover that it breaths (not a plastic one that holds moisture). Hope the Moco will warrantee your hdwr.
