I'm not trying to **** anyone off, but what's up with patches? When I joined HOG, first thing I got was a damn patch. And I get one every year I'm a member. When I was an officer, the Blue Knights gave me some more patches. Same thing with the AMA. More patches! So now I have a drawer full of all theese patches that I will never use. One reason being, I don't like to wear a vest. Another being, I don't like to advertise. Like I said, I'm not cracking on anyone at all, just curious to see the results, and maybe a post as to why you do or don't wear them.
I have a vest with patches and I like wearing it. Shows that I enjoy the places and events that I have been to. I show it with the patches. Steve from Az. Oh, by the way I noticed you still have the Harley sticker on your tank ................... not to **** you off, but isn`t that kinda " advertising. " Derek, have a nice day and ride safe !
I agree with Dhutch, to each his own. Doesn't make anyone any more or less of a person.
I also fly the american flag because I am proud to be an american and support our troops .
Besides I have to wear patches at work too.
Maybe you consider all of our military, police and firefighters dorks because they all have patches?
I put on the chapter patch , and the mileage ones , and ones from special events. The year rocker patches I just keep for a display. I wear my vest with the chapter , other wise not. I do collect pins , have since 66 but only put special ones on the vest .

I've been riding over 60 years and have never worn a patch or a pin. I do have cigar boxes full of them and it's neat on some evenings to go thru them and re-hash all the memories.
I do feel od when I buy new leather and can't wait for it to get aged properly!
I enjoy the "incognito" approach to this topic. If you want to know where I've been or what I've done, talk to me.
I feel the same way about guys who wear bandanas or doo rags.

you're a dork if you have an occ patch on your vest or your one of the posers who bought those stupid vests with patches already sewn on. Those don't turn you into an instant biker, only an instant dork.

I feel the same way about guys who wear cowboy boots and cowboy hats or who wear baseball hats sideways/backwards/slanted. Or people who dress Gothic. Or Gangbanger wantabees. The list goes on and on and on.
I am sure a lot of people that see you think your a dork also.
Be yourself, dress the way you want to dress and stop trying to impress people by fitting in the Non-Dork crowd.
BTW if you go around too long calling people dorks, good chances are that you are the one that is a Dork!

On the dork subject you need to be one to recognize one IMHO. I don't wear the vest or any patches. But I do collect shirts from all the places I visit. Like others have said it reminds you of a particular time in your life. I only wear the T-shirts from the places I have actually been such as Australia, New Zealand parts of Europe and of course the US. I had one of the other members ask me about this and said that if you see the shirt that means I have been there. Sometimes is a good conversation starter with the lady's in the chaptertoo.

not bloody likely. Actually your list of who's dorky is a lot longer than mine. Does that mean you're dorkier than me. (dork, you gotta love that word) I didn't call people who wear vests or patches dorks. I said if you bought a vest with the patches already sewn on there to give you instant biker look, then yes, you are a dork.
