No vests or overpriced H-D T-shirts, and no patches or pins on anything. I know what I've done and where I've been, and don't need to advertise either. In fact, I just dumped a drawer full of pins and patches accumulated over the years in the recycle bin.
1. I wear fingerless gloves when it's hot...
2. I wear chaps when it's cold...
3. I wear a helmet...
4. I have a vest with a harley patch on the back and my hog pin on the front.
5. (for all the trekkies) If I find a "United Federation of Planets" patch, I'm sewing that sucker on!
I really dont care what anybody thinks about what I'm wearing on my bike... OR what anyone else is wearing!!!
Maybe you consider all of our military, police and firefighters dorks because they all have patches?
It was said earlier that you are a dork when you act like a dork. With that in mind I answer your question: Yes! when they parade around town off duty doing the "Civie" thing and sporting all/most ofthier garb. They're Dork'n, for sure.
I can understand being proud of where you work and all, but I dont see people walking around pushing a desk in front ofthem with a notebook computer, Palm pilot and printer on it! does this mean they arent, or shouldnt be proud of where they WORK? its a job people, not a lifestyle. Although most turn it into that!
non-MOCO vest but has5 patches, with no new ones planned any time soon.
FRONT - HD script - cuz it looks cool
AMA Life member - cuz i want everyone to know I can throw money away with the best
of 'em
HOG member - matches the HD script and I like it
AMERICAN FLAG - most important patch on the whole thing
BACK - blue and white winged HD patch - my bikes blue and silver and it matches. I have the
same patch on my jacket
Besides the free "T" I got with the bike, I get mine either on ebay for 10-15 or trading here.
While I enjoy my independence, I don't have a problem hooking up with any group I belong to by dues (both monetarily or personal involvement). Just like here; I am an independent and don't HAVE to pay any type of membership fee, but I would'nt mind meeting up with a few of you guys and putting some miles on. And if you wore a vest, jacket, boots, helmet, MOCO "T", H-D scootor not, I don't care. Are you a friendly person that we have similar interests in and good company? - then I'm good to go.
