Got a Bell-Apex for $100 from cycle gear last week. It's full face. You can read the specs in the their web site or the Bell Helmet website. I have been using it. For me it works. It's comfortable, good fit, good ventilation (top and bottom). It's DOT and Snell. I was looking at a Shoei RF1100 at just a little above $400 before I got the Apex. I'm happy.

Relax, ride safely, and enjoy God's creations.

Breathing holes? Even a FF helmet has a giant hole in the bottom for you to stick your head into.

Riding in hot weather with a FF, ventilation is definitely an issue. The Aria's do very well in that area. Riding in cold weather, air flow is also an issue - without it, the face shield fogs up. The face shield will fog up on any FF helmet, some worse than others. You just have to get used to keeping it cracked open a little and maybe flipping it up when you stop.

I was in a similar situation a few years ago. Greatest innovation in helmets since I was gone was the modular. I got a Shoei, and it breathes and ventilates well. Only problem is in COLD weather, and I fog up a little at stop lights - fix by opening the shield. I ended up on a Heritage.

I wear a Shoei RF1000. It has air vents that work well and a nice size opening for viewing the road.

Bought a Shark Evoline modular last year and love it. Open face when I want, face shield all the time (but can be flipped up) full face when I want.

Have worn it in 80+ deg weather and below 30. Kind of expensive, but what is your head worth? Comfort and convenience is worth a lot to me also.

You can get cheap helmets, but most I have bought don't fit right, and don't work well. Get a good one and you will wear it a long time.

I recently bought a scorpion EXO-700, best FF I have ever owned! Super quiet even without a windshield on the bike, no buffeting up to 80mph and no fogging, had it on down to 35 degrees so far and even at a stop no fogging, even if you bllow right on the shield. And its only $200 and has great reviews everywhere you look to include web bike world.

He said said he wasn't sure about just a FF though, what about some good and cheap 3/4 helmets? I don't have any experience with those though.

Read up on helmets first http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcyc...le-helmets.htm

Ignore the Snell M2005 rating - it's outdated, instead look for a helmet with the Snell M2010 or EU rating. Basically the more you pay the better ventilation you get and the more accurate fit you get with some exceptions. Don't go too cheap because the really cheap helmets don't vent worth a crap although they might protect just as well and the high end Aria models are over prices for what you get. Brand and model depend on your head shape. HJC fit rounder heads well. Scorpion fit oval heads better. Other manufacturers vary the fit from model to model. Harley helmets are made, I think by HJC, you just pay a premium for the HD name on them.
