Leather Jacket

I would love a Langlitz but with a kid in college and another right behind, it's out of my price range. Fox Creek is a great jacket - very heavy and great customer service. I had a zipper pull tab come off - they took it right back for repair. Lifetime warranty. Nice.
A previous poster asked: "Is my $105 dollar leather any worse than a leather costing $400 or more?". I don't know the answer to that but I judge a jacket by fit and thickness. If the leather is thick enough to throughly protect and the cut & fit are good, doesn't really matter if it's $100, $400 or $900..it's all good. I do think the Fox Creek Jacket is a heavier leather than anything I've seen at the dealer. Unfortunately, no armor.

i love to open these 'leather jacket' threads and read the first page, then the last page after it's gone 10 or 12 posts to see how bad it deteriorated.
$1000 is a lot of money and the leather on a langlitz isn't going to protect you from road rash any better than a $200 jacket of equal thickness and animal, neither will do anything during an bone crushing impact. you can pretend it will but it won't. it's a vanity purchase and that's cool, nothing wrong with that.

Whatever - a $2000 used goldwing'll get you down the road as quickly as a 2010 Harley too. I don't consider having a jacket that fits me perfectly to be a vanity purchase, I consider it a significant factor in my comfort, particularly for the long haul - and heaven forbid I ever end up sliding down the road with just the jacket between me and the blacktop then perhaps the fit will actually matter too.
as with many things in life it's a vanity purchase, not that there's anything wrong with that, buy what you want no one cares at all what jacket anyone is wearing.

Seriously though. There are plenty of very comfortable leather jackets for less than half the cost. I won't criticize anyone for owning one but don't make it out to be something it's not. There are tons of jackets out there that will provide equal protection, and many more that will offer MUCH better protection.
I can honestly say that I've never boasted to anyone about my leather. The most I said about it was, "i bought it for about $140", if someone asked me. I don't care to know, but ask yourself how many times you boasted about your Langlitz. How many times have you proudly told people "it's super expensive but it's the best you can buy"? If you did, it was most likely a vanity purchase. No crime against that, but if protection was such a high priority you would have bought something else.

There are a couple of langlitz leathers on ebay for less than ten bucks apiece at the moment. Some body should jump that S++t pronto.
