Some of us can actually ride a motorcycle WITHOUT crashing.

I have freind that owns a Rice Bike store in the summer they sell 100's bikes a month. Then they take side bets on how long it take that bike to come back crashed up. Only on the Poser type that know they aren't going to crash type. The ones that pay for saftey gear make so much long in life. A good real motorcycle gear with light armor or pads are the people that come back to tell the story how it happen. A good leather is great to keep you warm and a motorcycle leather with light armor can save your life. Now or Later something may happen are you going to be ready. Or are you the T-Shirt ride saying it's not going to happen to me.

You know, judging from the pictures of yourself that you posted, I believe you're right. You'll never make it as a poser. THAT kind of poser, anyway.

cadman, please do not be offended, but this is a serious question.

Are you a native English speaker? It would make a lot more sense if you weren't. (Not that there is anything wrong with that.)

Back to Langlitz vs. Fox Creek, et al...

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...y-can-buy.html

To summarize:
  • Many people agreed with my claim that Langlitz makes the best jackets out there especially those that had either owned one or do own one.
  • Some stated that a good jacket can be had for less.
  • Others decided that you (me I guess) had to be some kind of poser for buying one.
  • One took issue with customers of Langlitz keeping Langlitz in business "but I DO CARE that people keep these companies in business"
  • Yet others felt that since Langlitz employed Americans who weren't ALL white Caucasians that there was no difference between buying "Chinese made in the USA" vs. "Chinese made in China".
After replying a couple of times to the thread I decided to let it run its course without involving myself further. Having read a great many replies to the thread in the Touring section and to this thread let me say the following:
  • I've been riding for 36 years. I've owned countless jackets, synthetic, Harley, Vanson etc. None have fit particularly well. One reason Langlitz are so damned good is that they are tailor made to fit. In response to all who ask why?: IT FITS DAMN IT!!!.
  • There seems to be a lot of ignorance expressed on the topic. One or two have claimed to have seen a Langlitz jacket and don't get it. I challenge anyone to identify a Langlitz jacket in a crowded biker bar. Unless you are intimately familiar with their products you wouldn't be able to. Which brings me to another point,
  • "Poser": someone who pretends to belong to a group only by affecting the attributes of the group. Exactly what does owning a higher than average quality non-descript (no labels, no external identification) jacket have to do with being a poser? I contend that there's no shortage of posers on this board. No shortage of Johnny come lately motorcyclist/bikers that have some sort of affectation (look it up) to a lifestyle they have no genuine claim to. Unfortunately the brand "Harley Davidson" seems to attract these true "posers" like no other. No true biker would attack another biker for buying a Langlitz jacket unless out of envy. No true biker would attack another biker for riding another brand motorcycle either (but I digress).
  • A true biker would, in my experience, have an appreciation for a small business doing something out of a passion to be the best and provide bikers with what they need. Not a company that expands and expands, all the while lowering quality to save on costs. This is no business with flashy neon signs out front. The only glitz this company has they come by honestly from the founder's last name. Anyone that would like to see a company like this go out of business is out of their ever self loving mind.
  • As far as this forum member is concerned - you might also wonder whether I fit in to some kind of stereotype that a handful of people seem to subscribe to. The tough, macho, tattooed beer swilling "Live to Ride" real biker as portrayed by Hollywood. After all my years of riding I'll tell you that 99% of these real bikers are true posers. That movie "Wild Hogs" struck a little too close to the truth for some of you out there I'm guessing. I'm not going to bother to pretend to be anything I'm not - so forgive me for not hiding from the fact that I'm educated and can sit down at my computer and articulate my thoughts clearly. Forgive me that I have a good well paying job and don't pretend otherwise just to fit in. Forgive me that I really do some serious riding and that my comfort and safety while riding is worth the extra dollars - and forgive me that I have a few extra dollars to spend. Forgive me that I live in the North West where good riding gear is a really good idea year round.
Langlitz is an American Icon - a throw back if you must, to a time when the mighty dollar and large corporations didn't profiteer off motorcycle enthusiasts. I can't quite fathom some people on this site suffice it to say that touring bike owners are a unique bunch. Some have been riders all their lives and have a passion for bikes. Others claim to have but probably haven't. Others seem to have lost their way. Some touring bike owners among Harley owners seem to be especially arrogant and highly opinionated SOBs.

I'll name no names. If any of what I've said hits home then as my sainted mother used to say "If the shoe fits wear it".

Well said.
