Default Speedometer accuracy

Anyone know about how accurate the Dyna speedos are? I have an '08 Streetbob, and sometimes it seems accurate and sometimes not.

On the 08 Ultra I had, the speedo was slower by 3mph than my Zumo 550. Now with the Limited the speeds are the same.

What I was going by are the radar "Your Speed Is" signs. Sometimes are right on, sometimes not...

Well officer, I know I was going the speed limit, no matter what that silly made-in-China radar gun says.

A portable GPS (even a cheap one) will tell your speed pretty accurate. You can probably borrow one for a test. The one built into in my wife's car does not tell speed, but most hand-helds do.

According to my GPS the speedo on heritage is about 3 mph fast.

Had a customer come in complaining about the speedo on his sporty a few years back. Don't remember exactly but think the tolerance is either +/- 3% (possibly 5% but for some reason I remember 3%)

Can't see +/- 3% or so mattering. Just sayin'. Changing tire size seems like it would be more of a factor.
