I was heading north on the Malahat that day, not too far behind the accident. What a friggen tragedy! The Canadian 'justice' system being what it is, that ******* will probably get a slap on the wrist. Makes me so damm angry!

Terrible news. I saw the article in the TC yesterday. I live in Langford and ride over the big hill all the time. That Malahat has taken a lot of lives over the years, even though it's not the mountain or the highway to blame. It's actually a pretty good quality highway until it snows.
Does anyone here know the couple? They look familiar, perhaps from one of the annual runs??

I had a similiar accident in 03, pill head let me get up almost even with him and no signal or nothing, jerks hard left right over on me! Busted up real bad and laid up in the hospital and rehab unit all winter! Still not over it!
There is some situations you can't react to! No time, you play it over and over in your head but you realize there is no way to get out of a situation such as this.
We pass cages on two land roads everyday and in straight stretches in rural area's we don't even think about one jerking hard left over on us.
SOL, a saying in the military,"soilder out of luck" best training, best equipment and you do everything right and you still get whacked!

It will never change either until the POLITICIANS finally get there heads out of there A$$ and make some changes to the laws. Even when they catch this LOW-LIFE he knows nothings going to happen to him. Thats why he did it in the first place! Over here a guy and his father ran over and killed a young boy, fled the seen and never turned back. The cops finally arrested him a year or so later based on evidence at the scene, thats the only reason they caught the driver. His BIG BUNDLE OF PUNISHMENT, 1 YR. HOUSE ARREST!
