Baseman1, thank you for the tip about the memorials. I was not a medic or firefighter on 9-11 but just soon after I started my journey in fire and ems. I will check it out when we get there early Sunday morning. HarleyScuba, thanks for the tip about peeing on the lawn. :-)

Sadly the parade of bikes has turned into somewhat of a look at me clown show. I ride
with the Vietnam Vets MC, we will be laying wreaths there.

The one opportunity where I could take off enough time from the shop, I hooked up with the Run for the wall www.RFTW.org in Missouri. The day of Rolling Thunder, we left the bikes at the hotel, took public transportation down to the Wall.

After watching the antics of many of the riders that day, I'm glad I did.

Respects,
Ed

My Dad and I are both going. He is a Viet Nam Vet. He will ride down to my house from Michigan and we will ride from there. My grandparents live in Baltimore so we'll stay with them.

If you are going to the parade, plan to be in the Pentagon parking lot for at least 5 hours from the time you arrive to the time you leave the lot. The earlier you get into the lot the better, as it will not be as hot in morning hours.

I live maybe 30 minutes from the Pentagon. Last time I rode in the parade we arrived at 7:30am and left the lot at 1:00pm...the parade starts at noon. I never had any issues buying water or food there but it easier to bring your own. I also never had any issues using the bushes to take a leak.

Everyone should do it at least once, but as Airborne has said, the true meaning and purpose of the event has been forgotten.

I'm guessing here, but I think what appears to have turned into a spectacle with the Rolling Blunder event in DC, will eventually be stopped or limited somewhat. Some riders are using this opportunity to make a real *** of themselves.

Welcome home buddy!

This young Marine knows what it's all about. He is there every year on his own time.
