I'm taking my tires off the rims today so while I wait for the tires to arrive I would like to replace the bearings. Any tricks I should know? I could take the rims to the dealer or buy the puller for $250 which isn't an option at all. Its a 01 E-Glide. They have never been replaced and I have 99 plus thousand miles on them. Thanks
Had my back wheel powdercoated this winter. had my dealer install the new bearings on my 06 FXSTI. Bearings plus labor was about $90.00. I debated buying the tool because I like to do things myself , but way to much money. Besides..the sealed bearings will last a long time.
youre due for new bearings. When they came out with sealed bearings they gave it a 100k life. If you dont want to buy a tool, weld a small bead on the inside of the spacer between the bearings and tap out one bearing, then drive out the other. The spacer is about $3 so Id get new ones any way. Then just press in the new bearings. The bearings were $75 a set last year but someone mentioned $90 installed, cant beat that.
