Every year, you can see bikes on trailers going to Tomahawk. The funny part is that they all have Wisconsin plates. Tomahawk is a half-day ride from anywhere in the state.

Riding across South Dakota a half hour after sunrise-it doesn't get any better than that. We make that run 2-3 times a summer.

Ain't that the truth!

What I don't understand is why people who live in cold weather states trailer bikes. They sit around all winter waiting to ride, get a week off from work and then take a trip with their bike on a trailer.

Exactly. Why do these guys care anyway? I don't give a rat's @ss if you ride or trailer so relax and do the same.
Personally, living in PA, riding to Sturgis back and forth takes 4 days and I'm a wreck when I get back home. If I trailer, it's 2 full days with 2 drivers. I said it already and I'll say it again: sometimes, the destination is more important than the journey.
So what do you think is best when you only have a 1 week vacation in summer? A 4-day trip with 3 days on site or a 2-day trip with 5 days on site?
You know my position on the subject.

Oh and what if you have a wife and kids and you want to take them with you?

By the way, the same logic applies to Daytona as far as I'm concerned.

yeah but the guy doesn't live across the country from sturgis, he's less than 800 miles out...on an ultra classic.

to each his own but i bought my bike to ride. i'll be going NY to florida this summer to spend a week with family, and really don't care how long it takes me to get down there as i absolutely relish the opportunity to get on my bike and put that many road miles on my tires across that many states.

Just to play devils advocate, the guy may appear healthy, but have back issues, or maybe he's just not confident enough, either way, as the above poster said to each his own.
I have back issues, but fortunately riding actually helps my back and legs!
I'm fortunate!

Ride when I can, trailer when I want to, either way it is my choice and I could care less what any wannabe thinks of what I am doing. I do often wonder though why can't people do what they want nad not be dicks about someone else doing what they want.
Some may think riding to a particular destination makes them more of a biker than another person who towed in. Those poor dumb basturds, true freedom is what you want it to be, not what someone else thinks it should be.

I bought my bike to ride too and I ride it extensively, but primarily to enjoy the scenery, not to rack up miles, much less at night. I can trailer my bike at night after a full day at work and arrive at my destination the next day, in relatively good shape. I doubt you'll do the same with your bike with a passenger behind you.
Like you said, to each his own.
