I dont know what he did but making the observation that it did not do it before he changed the fluids and adjusted the primary chain so backtracking to when it started, logical thinking would suggest that you go back to the last thing you did before it started and recheck that and go from there

yeah of course... this does mean however that the chain is definitely not tighter than it was before...at least...it did not stay tighter if this is the noise.

so yea i'm an idiot!! haha and for those of you who are hoping that i loosened the tensioner instead of tighting sorry but you lost the bet lol. it had nothing to do with the motor work i did. here was the problem:
when i bought the bike the two saddlebag/exhaust support brackets that ran down the rear fender where both snapped at the 90 degree bend in them. the night before i did the tuneup on the bike i replaced these brackets
the loud "engine knocking" was the heat shield from the rear cylinder exhaust pipe was knocking against the frame (i'm an idiot!!!)
glad i looked into a little before i ended up ripping the primary open!! haha

insert wise cracks here!!

but hey thanks for all you help!! i do appreciate it!

i'm glad it was simple to, the last thing i wanted to do was rip apart that primary again or find that the tensioner snapped loose!!

question for gypsylady...... KISS rule? good band but nvr heard of the KISS rule
