Hi all;
i took my bike to the mechanic, I nornally use, to have him check out the noise in the primary I wrote about the other day. He now tells me my primary chain is badly stretched and needs to be replaced. this is after he told me my chain adjuster was bad and the entire adjuster needed to be replaced
The bike is an 06 1200C with a little under 20,000 miles on it with all of the required maintance done at the right time or even a little early. I have never heard of a primary chain or a chain adjuster going bad with only 20,00 miles on the bike. Is this normal wear and tear or am I being had?

No, that's nowhere close to normal wear. I replaced my chain tensioner at 35,000 miles just because I had the primary open which makes it cheap & easy to do at that point. It probably had 15 - 20K miles left on the plastic shoe.
I'm at 50,000 now and am nowhere near needing to replace the chain.
Not to start an oil thread debate here, but as an FYI, I run Mobil-1 75w90 Gear Oil in the Primary/Tranny.
Mind came loose from the dealership from new.. I had to tightenb it up to specs from day 1 . The PDI should have caught that .I think they only took the Hecho in Mexico stickers off and washed the bike, and maybe slapped on the handle bars. The clutch was as tight as a drum. Had to adjust that too. Some squid with zero experience , except for maybe working on his Ninja 24 /7 with no respect for Harleys . Dont you wish they turned "Dexter" loose on bad Harley "Mechanics" sometimes . Maybe they would learn something....not
