MEK (methyl ethyl ketone) will take it off. DO NOT use it on hot pipes! Basically, soak a rag in MEK & lay it on the pipe for 5 or 10. Try to wipe it off. If it doesn't come off, go again. It might take some time, but it WILL take it off!

ETA: Try it on the bottom first. MEK's serious **** & I wouldn't want to see you damage your coating!

Because black pipes are coated & Easy off is meant to take EVERYTHING off....Including the coating.

Funny, I used use MEK every day when I worked doing screenprinting. Osha used to make us take special training just for it.....didn't know they even sold it over the counter.

I'm pretty sure you can only get it at aviation supply places these days...Didn't think of that when I posted, I pretty much live in aircraft alley.

Since the black is a high temp coating, I'd just carefully use a propane torch flame to incinerate the nylon to ash. Should brush right off then.

that sounds so good in theory but why do i get the feeling the OP's next thread would be titled "engine blew up, took my hair, eyebrows, and right ear with it...anyone know a good doctor?"

WTF happened to this thread? We got one guy wearing rubber pants, another guy wanting to French kiss his buddy, and yet another guy who recommends his brand of fingernail polish remover......I'm getting the hell out of here before it rubs off on me...............

Lesson learned.
Buy a set of Leathers or wear denim. Plastics and hot chit don't mix.
